Grammar Tip: Canceled vs. Cancelled and Canceling vs. Cancelling

You see variations of canceled and cancelled but which spelling is correct? Technically, both are correct. In American English, canceled is the more common spelling, and cancelled is more common in British English. The same is true with canceling and cancelling.

When using these words, consider your customers. Are the majority of your customers American? If so, use one L.

Point of interest: Cancellation is always spelled with 2 Ls.
